It’s going to be a struggle to move up the top ten and earn the right to fight for the light heavyweight title for Thiago Santos and Jamahal Hill on UFC Fight Night. The two will be battling it out at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
Santos had gotten a chance to go for gold, but lost to champion Jon Jones by split decision in a close fight that went all the way in UFC 239. The Brazilian has not had much luck since then, and lost three of his four succeeding matchups, including one where he fought against former light heavyweight champion Glover Texeira. His only victory came via decision over contender Johnny Walker.
No. 10-ranked Hill meanwhile has lost only one of his six fights since signing up with UFC. The Chicago-born fighter is 4-1 with one no-contest.
The weekend’s excitement includes the Season 30 finals of The Ultimate Fighter with bouts between heavyweights Zac Pauga and Mohammed Usman, and women’s flyweights Brogan Walker-Sanchez and Juliana Miller.
