Flyers – Devils History
The Devils and Flyers have played some close games of late, with the previous two meetings (each this season) each going to overtime. The Flyers prevailed 3-2 in December in New Jersey, while the Devils won 4-3 in November in Philadelphia.

Flyers Seeking Consistency
The Flyers are clinging to third place in the Metropolitan Division with a 29-19-7 record (65 points). They have been very streaky lately, going 10-8-2 over their last 20 games. This stretch includes both 4-game and 5-game losing streaks as well as a recent 5-game winning streak.
The Flyers are currently on a 5-game point streak after losing 4-3 in overtime to the Maple Leafs in their last game. Travis Konecny, who was the team’s all-star representative in 2024, had another strong night with one goal and one assist.

Philadelphia has done a good job keeping the puck out of their net, allowing just 2.85 goals per game. They also have the league’s second-best penalty kill (86%). However, the offense is only averaging 2.91 goals per game and their power play is second-last (13%).
A key injury to note is that to recently named captain Sean Couturier. The veteran was removed from the previous matchup due to a lower-body injury, and it is unclear if he will participate in Saturday’s battle with the Devils.
The Flyers projected starting goalie for Saturday is rookie Samuel Ersson, who is 15-9-4 on the season with a .900 save percentage and 2.55 GAA. Ersson is currently the sixth betting choice in the 2024 Calder Trophy odds.

Devils Battling for Playoff Spot
The Devils sit just outside the NHL playoff bracket with a 27-22-4 record (58 points), trailing the Red Wings by 2 points for the final Wild Card spot in the East. They are 8-9-2 over their past 19 games since a brief 3-game winning streak in late December.
The Devils are looking to bounce back after a disappointing 2-1 home loss to the Kings in their last game. Despite goaltending being a problem for New Jersey all season, it was their offense that dried up against David Rittich and the Kings.

New Jersey is led by the dynamic Jack Hughes, who has recorded 17 goals and 49 points in just 37 games this season. Nico Hishier is heating up with three goals in the past five games, while Jesper Bratt has five assists in that span.
New Jersey’s projected starting goalie for Saturday night is Nico Daws, who is 5-6-0 with a .909 save percentage and 2.93 GAA.
Flyers vs Devils Prediction
This should be a hotly-contested outdoor matchup between two division rivals. The Devils have the slight edge in 5-on-5 play (51.7% Corsi) while also boasting the NHL’s 9th-best power play (23.6%). Will the Flyers’ elite penalty kill have an answer?
For our Flyers vs Devils prediction, we’re siding with the home team at MetLife Stadium. The Devils have earned at least a point in three straight games against Philadelphia and will be eager to rebound following a tough loss to the Kings.
The home environment makes a difference in these outdoor games, and remember the Devils have already won five of the last seven against Philly in New Jersey. Plus, the Flyers are just 1-3-1 in outdoor games to date.
